feat. Delphine Gray-Fisk & Margaret Thatcher from The Real Face of the European Union by Philip Day, and Thatcher's resignation speech
1975
Hands up who thinks the Euro is a great idea. Think again. The Euro is a sneaky way of accumulating the wealth and moving towards a one-world government.
Maggie Thatcher was one of many people who knew it in the 70s. Regardless your personal feelings for the woman, she knew when she was being taken for a ride. And though she appeared to push for the unification of Europe, it wasn’t in the form it now threatens to take: that of a single European superstate with a single currency that will allow central bankers to take control more easily from this side of the Atlantic.
Delphine Gray-Fisk from the UKIP is another and, courtesy of Philip Day’s excellent documentary The Real Face of the European Union supplies the introduction to the track.

[Delphine Gray-Fisk]
initially i thought like everybody else
that we had joined a common market
since then in 1975
it’s become one or two things further than
just a common market
it’s now the european union
with all sorts of controls and restrictions
and regulations
and we’re fast approaching this new constitution
some already named a united states of europe
and I’m not at all sure that’s what I and many others
voted to join back in 1975

a single currency is about the politics of europe
it is about a federal europe by the back door
